Nazareth is a Level Up Champion in the fight to address poverty in Rochester

Published November 17, 2021

Nazareth is proud to be recognized as a Level Up Champion, joining organizations from around Rochester who have committed to addressing poverty in our community. In partnership with the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative, Nazareth is dedicated to paying a $15/hour or higher starting wage for non-student employees — serving as an important example to our community that we have the power to address poverty and structural racism caused by wage disparities.

For nearly 100 years, Nazareth has addressed the needs of the time through education, preparing students to embrace challenges and make a difference while working for the collective good,” said President Beth Paul. “That same work towards the collective good extends to current and future employees and to our belief that increased wages are crucial to lifting up our Rochester community and fighting poverty.”

The Level Up Champions badge gives the public a quick and easy way to identify businesses that align with their values.
