Art teacher and students celebrate a unique apprenticeship process as Nazareth's Art Gallery hosts the Shared Spaces Art Exhibit

Published January 06, 2026

Nazareth University is celebrating 85 high school art teachers and their students from around the Rochester region in the biennial exhibit Shared Spaces at Nazareth’s Art Gallery. Beginning Jan. 30, Shared Spaces is designed to celebrate the unique apprenticeship process that occurs between teacher and student. The exhibit will feature one work created by the instructor alongside the work of one of their students. To honor the concept of gallery space being equal, the artwork is displayed without identifying whether a teacher or a student created it. Nearly 40 schools are represented in the Shared Spaces exhibit.

There will be an opening reception on Friday, Jan. 30, from 5-7 p.m. The Shared Spaces show runs until March 30.

The Arts Center Gallery is located on the main floor of the Nazareth Arts Center. Arts Center Gallery Hours: Tuesday-Thursday noon-5 p.m., Friday-Saturday noon-8 p.m., Sunday noon-5 p.m. Closed Monday.
