Nazareth President Beth Paul, who concludes her six-year tenure as Nazareth’s 10th president at the end of June, was honored by the University with the formal renaming of Nazareth’s Shults Suite 100 to the Dr. Elizabeth L. Paul Student Life Suite. The suite is a major hub of student engagement on the Nazareth campus.
The renaming of the suite honors President Paul’s deep and enduring commitment to Nazareth students and their success and well-being. A special reception was held June 11, with an honorary plaque unveiling at the suite entrance. Nazareth University Board of Trustees Vice Chair Andy Gallina spoke, along with Sister Mary Lou Mitchell, president of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the religious Congregation that founded Nazareth more than a century ago. She announced a special scholarship in honor of President Paul.
“The Sisters of St. Joseph/Beth Paul Scholarship is established in gratitude and in honor of Nazareth's 10th president, Elizabeth L. Paul, for her devotion to Nazareth students and her commitment to the mission and vision of the Sisters of St. Joseph,” said Mitchell. “The scholarship shall provide financial assistance to one or more full-time students (undergraduate or graduate) enrolled at Nazareth who exemplify the Sisters of St. Joseph's dedication to serving neighbor to neighbor without distinction."
Paul is thankful for both honors and says the Student Life Suite is welcoming to the entire Nazareth community.
“Students live very complex and complicated lives. There are lots of things they are managing to come and make their dreams become a reality,” said Paul. “So to have a place that is safe for them, that is welcoming of each individual student, no matter where they are in their journey, and to walk beside them and to give them the resources they need to be able to reach forward, that is a beautiful resource.”
