About LECOM

  • Ranked among the best medical schools for primary care by U.S. News & World Report.
  • Consistently one of the most-applied-to medical schools in the country.
  • Founded in 1988, LECOM has grown to become the nation’s largest medical school with campuses in Elmira, NY; Erie, PA; Greensburg, PA; and Bradenton, FL.
  • The majority of LECOM graduates become primary care physicians — family physicians, internal medicine doctors, pediatricians, or obstetrician-gynecologists (OB-GYNs).
  • You graduate from LECOM with a doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) degree. Osteopathic physicians can choose any specialty, prescribe drugs, perform surgeries, and practice medicine anywhere in the United States. Osteopathic physicians take a patient-centered, holistic, hands-on approach, and bring the additional benefits of osteopathic manipulative techniques to diagnose and treat patients. Osteopathic medicine is one of the fastest-growing health care professions in the country, with 1 in 4 medical students enrolled in an osteopathic medical school.
