Scholarships & Grants

Federal TEACH Grant - Grants of up to $2,000 per semester to academically qualified students who intend to teach a high-need subject in an elementary school or secondary school or educational service agency that serves students from low-income families. Nazareth's program list and information.
ROC Urban Teaching Fellows Program is a paid teacher residency program, plus money toward tuition at Nazareth, designed to prepare teachers for a career in the Rochester City School District.
Monroe Regional Teacher Residency Program is a paid teacher residency program, plus money toward tuition at Nazareth, designed to prepare teachers for a career in Monroe County.
Dave Vigren Scholarship - Awarded to a teacher candidate who has financial need and is interested in working with children/learners from challenging backgrounds, interested in urban education, who is in good academic standing, and who exhibits strong professional behaviors.
Graduate assistantship: can cover 1.5 to 4.5 credits per semester
Clinical assistantship: up to a third of tuition
TOC II grant for teacher candidates from underrepresented populations: up to a third of tuition. The grant also helps with the cost of required teacher certification exams.
I-SPAN Scholars covers the cost of certain courses
Veteran/military benefits may cover some or all of this degree for you or your spouse or dependent.

Job

Teacher Immersion Fellows Program: Work as a substitute teacher or assistant in a partner school district for a consistent number of days per week.

Loan

Options for managing undergrad loans

Get on Your Feet Loan Forgiveness: Pay only 10% of discretionary income for 2 years, if you qualify.
Perkins Loan cancellation for teachers: Your Perkins loan and interest can be cancelled if you meet teaching requirements.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness: You may qualify if you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization.

Adjusted payment schedules

If your employer reimburses part of your tuition, Nazareth's Employer Sponsored Tuition Plan (ESTP) enables you to delay tuition payment until the end of the semester.
Payment plans provide a way to spread out the cost. Nazareth's Student Accounts office provides details.

Grants and assistantships are limited and competitive and require separate applications.
Aid cannot exceed total cost.
