Course Description:

Are you interested in using play therapy but are unsure of where to start?  This workshop is designed to expose clinicians to the basics of Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT).  CCPT is an approach to play therapy based on the use of empathy, acceptance, and the understanding that children can express their hurts, emotions, and inner experience through play while having the ability to lead the therapist in their journey.  This workshop is a must for anyone interested in learning more about how to enter a child's world through play.

Objectives: At the end of this course, participants will be able to…

  1. Identify three key elements of CCPT theory.
  2. Compare and contrast the work of Garry Landreth, Louise Guerney, and other practitioners who have been instrumental int he development of the approach.
  3. Identify at least three therapist behaviors that are vital to the implementation of the model.
  4. Demonstrate CCPT techniques during session role plays.
