Course Description:
This workshop provides an introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, a transformative, evidence-based model that helps clients understand and heal their inner world. Participants will explore core IFS concepts, including the Self, Parts, and the process of unblending and befriending protective and wounded parts. Attendees will gain foundational knowledge and practical skills to begin integrating IFS principles into their clinical practice.
This workshop is ideal for mental health professionals seeking to deepen their therapeutic approach with a non-pathologizing, strengths-based framework.
Objectives:
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to…
- Describe the basic assumptions of IFS and the key therapeutic goals of IFS therapy
- Describe the three categories of sub-personalities, or parts, that most often present in therapy
- Describe the IFS concept of Self and explain its role and effectiveness as a leader in the internal system
- Describe the healing steps which allow exiled parts to release uncomfortable burdens and beliefs, restoring internal balance and harmony
- Learn at least two techniques that aid in establishing and facilitating clients’ Self to part relationship with parts in their protective system
