Biography

AJ Spikes brings a unique blend of academic training and professional experience to the field of social work and behavioral healthcare. She holds bachelor's and Master of Social Work degrees from Nazareth, a Master of Education Administration degree from the University of Rochester, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in social work at the University of Texas at Arlington, with an anticipated graduation in 2026.

Since 2019, AJ has served as an adjunct instructor, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in professionalism, research methods, practice theories, and healthcare systems. Her professional background spans hospice care, behavioral health, and medical case management — providing direct services, coordinating care, and supporting families across diverse settings.

Her current research centers on emotional regulation, adolescent development, and AI-integrated mental health interventions — topics she actively integrates into collaborative spaces with students and colleagues alike. AJ's academic and professional journey reflects a deep commitment to advancing behavioral healthcare through education, research, and practice.

Aside from teaching and research, AJ loves spending time with family, friends, and building Lego sets!
