Nazareth Welcomes Pedro Noguera on April 3

Noguera, professor in the Steinhardt School of Education at New York University, is a sociologist whose scholarship and research focuses on the ways in which schools are influenced by social and economic conditions in the contact of an urban environment. He is a prolific author whose work includes books The Trouble with Black Boys and Other Reflections on Race, Equity, and the Future of Public Education; City Schools and the American Dream and The Imperatives of Power.

The 6th Annual Nazareth Poetry Contest on "Peace and Justice"

The competition will feature 100 students and members of the Rochester community who will recite original poetry or read poems from their favorite Francophone poets on the subject of peace and libertythe “quest for freedom” in front of a panel of 24 judges and a planning committee made of 13 Nazareth College students.

Stephen LaSalle II to Receive 2014 School of Management Distinguished Alumni Award

Nazareth College’s School of Management (SOM) is pleased to present Stephen LaSalle II ‘83 with the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award. LaSalle was chosen based on his business success, service to others, commitment to ethics and social responsibility, and his unwavering support of Nazareth College. LaSalle will accept his award at the SOM Honor Society Induction on Sunday, April 6 at 10 a.m. in Room A-14 of the Nazareth College Arts Center.

Folds Speaks at Your Queer Career Event on April 7

Nazareth College’s Career Services Department is hosting Your Queer Career with Riley Folds on Monday, April 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. Folds will discuss topics from his book Your Queer Career: The Ultimate Guide for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Job Seekers. This lecture is free and open to the public and is located in the Palladoro Lounge in the Nazareth College Arts Center.

Nazareth Hosts Ninth Teen Book Festival, May 17

Nazareth College is hosting the highly anticipated, Ninth Annual Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival (TBF). The event brings thousands of teens with all kinds of literary tastes together to meet their favorite authors.  TBF is Saturday, May 17, from 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Nazareth College, located at 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, N.Y. 14618. This event is free and open to the public and kicks off with an author parade led by the Eastridge High School Lancers Drum-Line.

Rodriguez Speaks on Latina(O) Perspectives and Liberation Theology, March 20-21

Theologian and professor Jeanette Rodriguez will be presenting Identity, Faith, and Resistance: A Latina(o) Perspective on Thursday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum of the Otto A. Shults Community Center. Rodriguez will also present Liberation Theology: The Next Generation on Friday, March 21 at 1:30 p.m. in the Linehan Chapel of the Golisano Academic Center.
