Nazareth College and the College at Brockport are pleased to announce a new partnership with Cayuga Community College that will bring a master’s of social work program to its campus in Auburn, N.Y. The Greater Rochester Collaborative Master of Social Work (GRC MSW) program, a unique collaborative between Nazareth College and The College at Brockport, is scheduled to be offered at Cayuga Community College beginning in fall 2014.

Deadline for applications has been extended to August 14th. Interested applicants can apply at  http://www.brockport.edu/grcmsw/ An information session will be held on Wednesday, July 30th from 6:00pm to 7:30 p.m. at Cayuga Community College. "For several years the Auburn community has hoped that we would provide graduate education in social work and has worked closely with us in fulfilling that wish,” said Ginny David (Nazareth College) and Jason Dauenhauer (The College at Brockport), co-directors of the GRC MSW program. “We are pleased to be able to offer our collaborative GRC MSW Program to the Auburn community in the fall of 2014 and look forward to a successful and longstanding partnership."

The program to be offered at Cayuga Community College in Auburn beginning in the fall of 2014 is an advanced standing part-time program, which is for the applicant who has received a bachelor's degree in social work from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program within the past eight years. The successful candidate completes a 36-credit program part-time in five semesters. In the near future, the GRC MSW program will also add the 60-credit program, for the applicant who does not have a bachelor's degree in social work (or for someone who has not met the criteria for advanced standing). That program is completed in four years part-time.

“Cayuga Community College is proud to add the GRC MSW program as its newest University Center partnership,” said Janet Nelson, Cayuga’s Director of Adult Learning. “Cayuga’s University Center responds to the identified need for more locally-accessible and affordable post-associate degree programming, conveniently scheduled for working adults.  The GRC MSW Program will definitely help area residents achieve their educational goals and career advancement in the field of social work.”

The Greater Rochester Collaborative Master of Social Work (GRC MSW) program focuses on the delivery of collaborative, community-based practice using an integrative practice model that stresses a strengths-based, empowerment- oriented, interdisciplinary teamwork approach to social work practice. The program’s focus on community-based practice is unique in its emphasis on leadership in interdisciplinary teamwork across social systems.  The GRC MSW program prepares competent, advanced social work practitioners to address the anti-violence, women’s health, child welfare, aging and poverty challenges through community collaboration, partnership and empowerment.
