Vocalist Amy Cochrane, lecturer in applied music in the Nazareth College Music Department, was awarded the Arts in Education Award by Livingston Arts at its annual gala. Formally known as the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts, Livingston Arts is a non-profit organization that promotes arts and culture throughout Livingston County.
Geneseo resident Miriam Lerner nominated Cochrane, stating in the application that “Amy has nurtured so many aspiring young singers, performed in Finger Lakes Opera productions, and formed the Genesee Valley Children’s Choir.”

She also teaches voice at SUNY Geneseo, Rochester Institute of Technology, and in her home studio. She founded the Genesee Valley Children’s Choir in 2008.
As a performer, Cochrane made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1998 in Haydn's Creation, She has since given critically acclaimed performances with the Madison Opera and Symphony Orchestra, Chicago's prestigious Music of the Baroque Chorus and Orchestra, and Chicago's Rembrandt Chamber Players. Locally, she has performed at Nazareth College, SUNY Geneseo, Finger Lakes Opera, Mercury Opera, Oswego Opera, and for WXXI’s Live from Hochstein series.
