Nazareth College is announcing a new partnership with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). Ranked among the best medical schools for primary care by U.S. News & World Report, LECOM is the most-applied-to medical school in the country. Prospective  students may apply to Nazareth College to major in biomedical sciencesand at the same time apply for either the medical school program or dental school program at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). Interested students should contact: Steve Tajc at stajc3@naz.edu or John Mordaci at jmordac9@naz.edu .

Nazareth provides students with a solid foundation for medical and dental school through rigorous academic preparation, intensive research opportunities and personal attention from faculty advisors,” said Professor Steve Tajc, who oversees Nazareth’s pre-med program. “Along with waiving the MCAT and some financial benefits, this is a rare opportunity for high performing, motivated prospective students to secure a seat in medical school at the same time they are accepted into their undergraduate degree program.”

About LECOM

  • Founded in 1988, LECOM has grown to become the nation’s largest medical school with campuses in Erie, PA; Greensburg, PA; and Bradenton, FL.
  •
The majority of LECOM graduates become primary care physicians — family physicians, internal medicine doctors, pediatricians, or obstetrician-gynecologists (OB-GYNs).

  • Medical Program track: You graduate from LECOM with a doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) degree. Osteopathic physicians can choose any specialty, prescribe drugs, perform surgeries, and practice medicine anywhere in the United States. Osteopathic physicians take a patient-centered, holistic, hands-on approach, and bring the additional benefits of osteopathic manipulative techniques to diagnose and treat patients. Osteopathic medicine is one of the fastest-growing health care professions in the country, with 1 in 4 medical students enrolled in an osteopathic medical school.

  • Dental Program track: You graduate with doctor of dental medicine (DMD) degree.

The Benefits:

  • No medical college admission test (MCAT) required for LECOM Medical School if you are accepted as a high school senior — saving you time, stress, and the cost of the exam, plus saving thousands of dollars for MCAT preparation classes or a post-baccalaureate program. (Current Nazareth students can apply to LECOM early acceptance program (EAP) and if accepted can also be MCAT free.)
  • You don’t have to go through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine application service(AACOMAS), saving more than $150.
  • You have a guaranteed seat in medical school as long as you maintain eligibility (including a high GPA at Nazareth).
  • LECOM offers one of the lowest tuitions for private medical colleges in the country, while maintaining the highest quality of educational standards for academic programs. LECOM also has financial aid available, awarded based on your FAFSA and your college GPA.
