Faculty-Staff Giving

Frequently Asked Questions

I help Naz through my work, why should I donate?

Participation is the key. The number of alumni, employees, and friends supporting Nazareth influences corporations and foundations that are considering major grants and gifts to the University. Faculty and staff support also goes a long way to helping us be heard when we ask for corporate and legislative support.

Your contribution is a vote of confidence in Nazareth and its mission, and will lead the way to our future success.

Can I specify where my contributions should go?

Absolutely. Your contribution can be designated to a variety of areas including the Nazareth Fund (the fund that goes where the needs are greatest), scholarships, departments, and programs, just to name a few. Your gift directly benefits the area you choose. Simply note your preference when you give. Support the area of your choice.

Can I designate my gift to more than one area?

Yes. Clearly note on the giving form how much you want to give to each area. All dollars raised at Nazareth are designated according to the donor's wishes.

How much should I give?

You determine the amount of your gift according to your own charitable interests, your personal willingness to give, and your financial capability. No gift is too small; it's your participation in the effort that matters.

Do small gifts really make a difference?

All gifts are important. The faculty and staff campaign exemplifies the collective power of giving. With each person doing what he or she can, we all make a big difference. Every dollar makes a difference.

What if my spouse works for a matching gift company?

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Type the employer name in the matching gift database to find out if they have a matching gift program and, if so, how to set up a matching gift.

How may I donate?

You can give:

  • online via credit card
  • automatically through payroll deduction
  • in person at the Office of Advancement: Golisano Academic Center Room 185
  • by mail (Write annual fund in the memo line and mail check payable to Nazareth University to Nazareth University Development Office, 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618)
  • stock or securities: The Support Naz page has a "Give stock" section with more details

You can also join the Founder's Society by making a planned gift. Contact Max McGinnis at mmcginn01@naz.edu or 585-389-2412 for details about this giving option.

What is payroll deduction?

Payroll deduction is a simple way for you to complete your gift to Nazareth over time through your paycheck. When you sign up for payroll deduction, your gift will be automatically deducted from your paycheck for the amount and timeframe you stipulate. Please allow two weeks to begin the process.

Will my payroll deduction automatically renew?

There is a new option on your payroll deduction form where you can opt for continuous giving.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes. 100 percent of your gift is tax deductible.

What if I am already a donor?

Thank you! You can make an additional contribution or renew your gift in whatever way you choose. Any way you give, your gift in the current fiscal year counts towards this faculty and staff campaign.
