Enrollment timeline

Our clinic follows Nazareth's semester calendar. Enrollment and session timelines:

  • Enrollment and scheduling for the fall semester is completed in August; sessions run August through December.
  • Enrollment and scheduling for the spring semester is completed in December; sessions run January through April.
  • Enrollment and scheduling for the summer semester is completed in April; sessions run May through August.
Potential Clients

The clinic provides diagnostic assessment and treatment services for children and adults throughout the Rochester community who have a wide range of speech and language disorders, including articulation, language, hearing, voice, and fluency concerns.

The clinic also assists school-age children who demonstrate difficulty in the areas of language and literacy, specifically in the areas of listening, phonemic awareness, spelling, word identification, reading comprehension, and writing.

Student clinicians also provide supervised outreach services to preschools and schools in the area.

Session Schedule
  • During Nazareth's fall and spring semesters: 60-minute sessions weekly.
  • During July and August (Summer B session): Twice-weekly for 60 minutes each session.
  • Individual or small group format, depending on client needs and clinic schedules.
  • Schedules for therapy are completed before the start of each semester. 
  • Evaluations are scheduled throughout the fall, spring and summer semesters.
Student Clinicians

Therapy services are provided by undergraduate students in the communication sciences and disorders and graduate speech-language pathology programs. All therapy is supervised by faculty certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the New York State Office of the Professions.

Referrals

Clients are referred to the clinic from any number of sources, including current clinic families, other clinics and clients, case managers, physicians, social workers, teachers, and community speech-language pathologists, but referrals are not required.

A formal speech-language evaluation must be made available for the client to be considered for the clinic. Arrangements for an evaluation can be made through the clinic if needed.

Eligibility and Fees

Individuals are considered for admission to our clinic following the provision of completed intake paperwork and an evaluation. Determination of eligibility is based on multiple factors and criteria. The clinics are free of charge. Donations are accepted.

Location

The speech and language clinic is on the Nazareth campus in the York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute. The clinic space is accessible to people with disabilities.

Parking

Clinic parking spaces are located in front of the York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute building and in G Lot at the end of the building.

You will receive a parking pass before you begin therapy or at your first session. Please make sure it's visible on your dashboard while you're parked on campus. If you receive a parking ticket, let your clinic supervisor know.
