Accreditation & Memberships
Nazareth is incorporated under the authority of the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 267-284-5000. The MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Once every eight years, the University undergoes a comprehensive process of self-assessment and peer review in order to ensure that it meets the Commission’s standards for accreditation, set forth in its Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation. The University’s mission statement serves as the lens through which the institution and the Commission’s evaluation team view the standards and apply them to the University.
In addition to the institutional accreditation provided by Middle States, many of Nazareth's academic programs are accredited by specialized accreditation agencies.
Nazareth holds membership in the American Council on Education, and the Association of American Colleges and Universities.

- Art and Design Department: National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD)
- Art Therapy: The art therapy program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of The Accreditation Council for Art Therapy Education (ACATE). - Clinical Laboratory Sciences: The Clinical Laboratory Sciences program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS)
- Education: The School of Education teacher education programs are fully accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP).
- Music: All bachelor's and master's degrees in music are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
- Nursing: The baccalaureate degree in nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
- Occupational therapy: Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). More details on Occupational Therapy Department page.

Nazareth is approved by the New York State Education Department for the training of veterans and other eligible persons.
