Academic Coaching

Accomplish your academic goals through one-on-one organizational and motivational meetings.

Taking a holistic approach to student development, our academic success coaches use a meta-cognitive approach to helping you embrace your individual learning strengths and styles: We help you learn how you learn.

How academic coaches help

Trained graduate students provide individualized student support in regularly scheduled, confidential, one-on-one meetings to enhance:

  • transitioning to college
  • self-management
  • test preparation
  • study skills
  • managing assignments
  • strategies to communicate with a professor
  • connecting with appropriate resources on campus
  • any additional challenges a student may face

Academic success coaches will NOT:

  • take care of your responsibilities for you
  • talk to professors on your behalf
  • serve as an area-specific tutor
  • track you down if you stop showing up to meetings
  • remind you about your obligations

Social Coaching

Personalized 1:1 sessions are specifically designed to help you develop essential social and self-care skills.

Be empowered to become an independent self-advocate throughout your college journey and beyond. The skills gained will be valuable tools you carry with you after graduation.

How social coaches help

Trained peer-to-peer social coaches provide individualized support in regularly scheduled 1:1 meetings to support the following (but not limited to these):

  • Creating meaningful connections with peers
  • Participating in social and campus activities
  • Maintaining healthy relationships
  • Communicating effectively with others
  • Goal setting
  • Creating healthy boundaries
  • Recognizing and understanding social cues
  • Mental and physical self-care

Meet once a week in our office to build essential skills and receive valuable resources to continue developing your goals. And spend an additional hour each week in the Nazareth community, further applying the skills you are developing, to accomplish your goals.
