January 2026 Undergraduate Orientation

Nazareth University’s Spring Orientation Experience is required for all incoming freshman and transfer students for the spring semester. Orientation takes place before the spring term begins, with essential programming offered online.

Additional optional sessions are available both virtually and in person. Please plan ahead to take full advantage of both required and optional sessions for a well-rounded orientation experience.

Orientation Overview

  • Online Onboarding: Access on-demand modules to help you get acquainted with campus resources and student life. Available to deposited students beginning November 14, 2025. If you cannot access this course, please email Joey Hitchcock at jhitchc5@naz.edu.
  • Virtual Academic Advising and Registration Appointments: Details regarding your advisement and registration appointment will be sent to your Nazareth email.

New Resident Move-In

Between 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM, Residential Life Office in Kearney Hall

Get ready to move in and make Nazareth your home! Residential students are invited to check in to their residence halls and pick up their room keys at the Residential Life Office in Kearney Hall. Stop by anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to officially begin your on-campus experience—we can’t wait to welcome you! 

Orientation Check-In

Between 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM, Millie's Café in Lorette Wilmot Library

Orientation Check-In is quick, easy, and flexible! Students may stop by Millie’s anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to check in—there’s no need to arrive right at 8:30. As long as you check in before noon, you’ll be all set to enjoy the rest of the day and kick off your Nazareth experience! 

Taking Care of Business

This is your chance to connect with key campus offices and take care of any outstanding questions or concerns. Students can visit a variety of on-campus offices to learn more about available services, get support, or receive assistance

Welcome Lunch

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Medaille Formal Lounge

Lunch is a come-as-you-please event from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Medaille Formal Lounge. Enjoy some tasty food, mingle with fellow students, and take a moment to get settled before an afternoon full of fun, engaging, and exciting sessions!

Welcome to Nazareth is the official opening session of Orientation! Be warmly welcomed by Provost Maureen Finney, learn what it truly means to be a Nazareth student, meet your peers, and walk through the day’s schedule with our Orientation staff as you kick off an exciting start to your Nazareth journey. 

Meet Your Career Coach & How to Get a Job On-Campus

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM, Medaille Formal Lounge

Get a head start on your future at Nazareth! In this session, you’ll meet your Career Coach and learn about Career Design and the many services available to support your goals. We’ll also walk you through Handshake, your go-to platform for campus jobs and career opportunities, and introduce the SPARK Grant, designed to help you gain valuable, hands-on experience. Whether you’re looking for a job now or planning ahead, this session will set you up for success! 

Academic Success and Strategies

3:45 PM - 4:30 PM, Medaille Formal Lounge

The Academic Success and Strategies session is designed to help students start their Nazareth journey with confidence. This session will introduce key tools, resources, and strategies for thriving in the classroom, including time management, study skills, and academic support services. Students will learn how to navigate expectations, access help when needed, and build habits that promote long-term academic success at Nazareth University.

Student Engagement at Nazareth 

4:30 PM - 5:00 PM, Medaille Formal Lounge

Discover how to get involved and make the most of your Nazareth experience! This session highlights the many ways students can engage on campus, from clubs and organizations to leadership opportunities, events, and traditions. Learn how getting involved helps you build community, develop new skills, and create meaningful connections that make Nazareth feel like home.

Dinner is a come-and-go opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal, relax, and connect with fellow students. Take this time to refuel, chat with new friends, and get ready for an evening of fun and engaging activities!

Cheer on the Golden Flyers! Join us for an optional home basketball game as Nazareth takes on Elmira College. This is a fun chance to relax, show your school spirit, and enjoy an exciting game with your new peers.

Learn about community responsibility, healthy behaviors, staying safe, and important policies, resources and support that pertain to Title IX.

Have you ever been concerned about a situation and didn’t know what to do? You are not alone! Students will learn tips and tricks to navigate any situation by using bystander intervention techniques. 

Lunch with Residential Life Team

Grab a seat and get to know the people who make campus life great! Lunch with the Residential Leaders is a casual, come-and-go meal where you can meet your RAs/CAs, ask questions, and hear tips for living on campus—all while enjoying a delicious lunch and connecting with your new Nazareth community. 

Creating a Sense of Belonging at Nazareth

Join Culture, Community, and Belonging and several Naz student leaders for a conversation on what belonging means at Nazareth and how we each have a role and responsibility in creating an equity-minded campus community.

Women's Basketball vs. Keuka (Optional)

Cheer on the Golden Flyers at the home women’s basketball game against Keuka! This is a great chance to show your school spirit, enjoy some fast-paced action, and connect with fellow students in a fun, energetic atmosphere.

Plant Your Roots at Nazareth (Optional)

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Shults Forum

Put down roots and watch yourself grow! Plant Your Roots at Naz is an optional social where students can plant a small plant to nurture during their time at Nazareth. It’s a fun, hands-on way to connect with your new community and create a lasting reminder of your growth and journey at Naz!

Find Your Classroom Tours (Optional)

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Leaving from Shults 100

Never get lost on your first day! Join a Find Your Classroom Tour, departing from Shults 100, and explore your classrooms so you know exactly where to go. These guided tours make it easy to get familiar with campus and start the semester with confidence.
