Nazareth Scholarships

Youngblood Scholarship for Diversity & Inclusion: Applicants from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds are eligible for an annual scholarship from Nazareth. The scholarship honors Georgia Youngblood '48, Nazareth's first black graduate — long before the Civil Rights Act of 1964. At age 15, Youngblood traveled from Austin, Texas, and earned a bachelor's in biology, a minor in chemistry, and cum laude distinction in philosophy. She went on to attain an advanced degree in medical technology at the U.S Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island and worked at Howard University's Freedom Hospital. Her commitment to inclusion, intelligence, leadership, and a pioneering spirit exemplifies what we look for in all students. Her acceptance into Nazareth is part of the College's legacy as a bold, innovative, and forward-thinking place with a commitment to inclusiveness.
