The Summer Opportunities for Activities in Research and Scholarship (SOARS) grant supports intensive experiences in mentored research over the summer. The grant supports faculty mentors and student researchers.
The Scholarship and Innovation Faculty Fellowship (SAIFF) serves to support new research, creative activity, and other scholarly projects consistent with institutional, department, and individual goals that occur during the summer. SAIFF funds are intended to provide a one-time infusion of funding (i.e. seed money) for projects that are directly connected to the applicant’s scholarship agenda and goals.
Faculty interested in conducting research over the summer months ARE able to seek funding assistance with their own projects and offer research support opportunities to SPARK-eligible students (see link for details on eligibility).
Professors Leanne Wood Charlesworth and Jed Metzger received an internal grant for transportation and T-shirts for Project Homeless Connect 2014 in Rochester. The project engaged 145 Nazareth students in service, improving data collection about the 800 participants, and implementing strategies recommended from the previous year's event. Faculty presented on the project at that year's Council of Social Work Education annual conference in Florida. Read more.
