Greetings, and thank you for visiting the webpage of the Nazareth University School of Music. I hope you will become intrigued by the School’s online profile and decide to visit our picturesque campus and meet us in person. You would quickly discover that we are a vibrant music community that cherishes creativity, thrives on collaboration, and prepares our students for success in the musical field.
That’s right. If you dream about having a career in music, you have come to the right place. We’ll give you the tools necessary to achieve this goal. Our students acquire comprehensive education that comprises a distinctive musical instruction, extensive liberal arts core, specialized training in nationally recognized professional programs, and preparation for leadership and advocacy roles in our communities. We call it a package of essential 21st century skills.
We’ve got options, you’ve got choices. We accept students with a broad range of interests and diverse career goals. Choose your educational path from six undergraduate degree programs — Music (BA), Music Composition, Music Education, Music Performance, Music Therapy, and Music/Business — as well as three graduate degrees, in Music Education, Music Therapy, and Music Performance & Pedagogy.
In addition, our students frequently elect to amplify their educational profiles by enrolling in one or more minors in the areas of Jazz, Music History, Music Theory, Piano, Contemporary Commercial Music, Entertainment and Recording Industry, and others.
Whether you play or sing, we also offer performance opportunities at regional, national, and international venues and events. Our students have recently participated in study abroad programs in Austria and concert tours of Ireland and Poland. These events are life-changing experiences that significantly enhance the students’ resumes.
At Naz, we care. Our community fosters a nurturing climate so students can really feel at home. They meet new friends in their ensembles and music history classes, learn and teach in their studio classes, and develop enduring bonds with each other through performances, curricular and co-curricular projects, and various campus activities. We celebrate the uniqueness of each and every student and work hard to ensure that everyone is valued and able to realize their potential. Yes, there will be challenges and thresholds to pass, but making progress frequently means getting out of your comfort zone. Think of it as preparation for the real world.
Our School of Music is housed within a liberal arts university that is proudly approaching its centennial. Our setting is ideal for music students, as our beautiful suburban campus is situated in wooded hills just outside of Rochester, New York, a metropolitan area with a population of nearly 1 million and a thriving cultural community.
On campus, we recently celebrated the opening of the Glazer Music Performance Center, a $15.5 million performance space, which has become an artistic gem in the region. The stage in our Beston Hall can be yours. If you are ready for the challenge, we are here for you!
