Huiping Cai is the winner of numerous national and international competitions, including First Prize and Audience Award at the 2023 New York Franz Liszt International Piano Competition. She also won the 2022 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the 2019 Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, CT, the 2018 Miami Music Festival Piano Concerto Competition, the 2017 Temple University Concerto Competition in addition to winning First Prize, Best Concerto Award, and Best Recital Award at the 2017 Philadelphia International Piano Competition.
Ms. Cai’s concerto performances have been highly praised for their lyricism, musicality, and formidable technique. Huiping made her orchestral soloist debut at the age of fifteen with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra under conductor Guoyong Zhang in China. After performing with the Kazakhstan National Symphony Orchestra, she represented the China National Culture Committee in numerous cultural exchange concerts in Russia and Kazakhstan. In 2018, Huiping performed Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Miami Music Festival Orchestra under Maestro David Effron. She made her Taiwan debut at the prestigious Taipei National Concert Hall with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra playing the Mozart Double Piano Concerto with pianist Ching-Yun Hu under conductor Gernot Schmalfuss in 2018. Huiping made her Mexico debut with Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Neil William Thomson at Teatro Degollado in 2020. Ms. Cai recently made her Carnegie debut at Stern Auditorium Perelman Stage with Orchestra of St. Luke’s, performing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on October 2023.
Charismatic and popular with audiences in both concerto and recital settings, Ms. Cai is also an engaging solo performer. Huiping performed recitals at the Puffin Cultural Forum in New Jersey, the Coastal Chamber Concerts in California, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert in Chicago, and she also represented her home city, Shenzhen, China, performing in three concerts for the Hong Kong - Shenzhen Youth Music Festival. She attended the Euro Music Festival in Halle, Germany, the Chopin Piano Academy by Kosciuszko Foundation in Washington, the Young Artists Program by PianoTexas, and the Philadelphia Young Pianists’ Academy, where she also recorded for, and was interviewed by, Philadelphia's WRTI Radio.
Huiping received her MM in Piano Performance from New England Conservatory where she studied with Dang Thai Son and held a Teaching Assistantship. She is currently pursuing her DMA in Piano Performance & Literature under the tutelage of Alan Chow, and a MM in Piano Accompanying & Chamber Music under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Harley at the Eastman School of Music.
