Lisa Albrecht has distinguished herself as a performer, teacher, arranger, and program curator, noted for her artistic creativity and versatility. In 2024, Ms. Albrecht was appointed Lecturer of Trombone at Nazareth University where she maintains a studio of undergraduate and graduate students. She leads a weekly studio class, co-teaches Low Brass Methods, and performs with the resident faculty brass quintet, Wilmot Brass. Prior to her appointment at Nazareth, Ms. Albrecht held teaching positions at the Juilliard School Pre-College Division, the University of Texas (San Antonio), Eastman Community Music School, and she served on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music. Ms. Albrecht has also coached sectionals and presented clinics, masterclasses, and recitals across the US and Europe.
A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, she studied with John Marcellus and was a recipient of the Performers’ Certificate. Other formative teachers include Arnold Jacobs, James Desano, George Osborn, and Alan Bomwell. Ms. Albrecht has served as Second Trombonist of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra since 2009. She previously held positions with the New York Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, and Honolulu Symphony. She has also
performed with the orchestras of Los Angeles, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Detroit, Buffalo, St. Petersburg (Russia), American Symphony, Mostly Mozart Festival, Lucerne Festival, Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, Czech National Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie. As a New York-based free lancer for 15 years, she performed in over twenty Broadway productions, for television & amp; film media, and on commercial recordings. Other commercial credits include performances with legendary artists ranging from Tony Bennett and Sarah Vaughan to Joni Mitchell, Audra MacDonald, and Wycliff Gordon, among others.
Her experience with historical brass includes performances with Spiritus Collective, Rebel Baroque Orchestra, Early Music New York, and New York Collegium. She has also been a featured soloist at the International Trombone Festival, Lieksa Brass Week (Finland), Eastern Trombone Workshop, New York Brass Conference, with the Jupiter Symphony Players and the Perinton Concert Band. Her chamber music affiliations include the Summit Brass, Burning River Brass, New York Symphonic Brass, Proteus 7, and the Excelsior Trombone Ensemble. She is a founding member of the Hohenfels Trombone Quartet, which presented a 2014 tour to Würzburg, Germany as musical ambassadors representing the International Sister Cities of Rochester organization.
In 2020 Ms. Albrecht released her solo album, Sound & Resound, with organist Amanda R. Mole. Her brass arrangements are published by Cherry Classics and Barkeater Music.
