Sarah Rhee-Tirré

Biography

Canadian-Korean pianist, Sarah Rhee-Tirré, has performed as recitalist and soloist withorchestras throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Her engagements include performances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra(USA), Rome Chamber Orchestra (Italy), New Millennium Orchestra (Spain), Orchestra London (Canada) and Eastman Symphony Orchestra among others. She has captured numerous top prizes at the international level including the Young Keyboard Artists Association International Competition, the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition, Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, and 4-Time winner of the Canadian National Music Competition.

Sarah is an avid chamber musician and lecturer. Solo and chamber performance venues have included Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall (New York), Ford Center for the Performing Arts (Toronto, Canada) and the Eastman Kodak Theatre. She has given master classes at Silpakorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, and many other institutions throughout North America.

Dr. Rhee-Tirré has held collegiate positions at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania as Assistant Professor of Piano. She was also teaching assistant to world renowned pedagogue, Nelita True. Sarah has extensive teaching experience both at the collegiate and preparatory levels and is a regular adjudicator for state, national and international competitions. She has served on the faculties of the Eastman Community Music School and Hochstein School of Music.

Sarah Rhee-Tirré holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded the prestigious Performer’s Certificate, and Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Juilliard School. Her teachers include Nelita True, Julian Martin, Marc Durand, Yoheved Kaplinsky and Ronald Turini. Dr. Rhee currently resides in Rochester where she maintains a private teaching studio and has been a faculty member at Nazareth University since 2006. She also serves on the College of Examiners for the Royal Conservatory of Music.
