Stephanie Honz

Biography

Stephanie M. Honz is a performer, teacher, and church musician in the Rochester area. She holds degrees in organ performance from the University of Wisconsin Superior and the Eastman School of Music, as well as further studies at the Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison in Paris under the direction of Marie Claire Alain. Some of her past accomplishments include winning the Gold Cup at the 1998 International Baroque Music Competition in Dresden, Germany, the 1999 Gold Medal at the European Guild of Music Competition in Vienna, Austria, the 2000 Prix D'Excellence at Esterhazy, Hungary, and the 2003 Musika Acadamie Europa "Artist of the Year" award in Florence, Italy.

Stephanie has enjoyed an avid international concert career under the management of Meuller Associates of Germany. She has recorded for the BBC and has performed throughout Europe, the UK, China, North Africa, Israel, Canada, and the USA. Stephanie serves as Pastoral Associate for Music and Liturgy at St. Louis Catholic Church in Pittsford, NY, a position she has held since 1991. She has organized multiple church choir tours abroad, and has served as a clinician and recitalist for national and regional AGO, NPM, and MTNA conventions.

Over the years Stephanie has built a reputation in the Rochester area for
enthusiastically fostering the interest of keyboard study in students of all
ages. Besides the joy she finds in teaching others, she is committed to the
continuous process of learning, and has recently taken up the harp.
