Toby Young's time at Nazareth was full of performance opportunities. His vocal performance credits include J.S. Bach’s Cantata BWV 106, Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna, G.F. Handel’s Messiah, Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief and Menotti’s The Medium. He was one of the proud members of the Nazareth Chamber Singers to win the Grand Prix at the 2019 Stanislaw Moniuszko International Chamber Choir Competition in Rzezów Poland in June 2019. Toby has also sung backup for Josh Groban on the Bridges and Stages tours.
In his professional life, Mr. Young works as an elementary general music teacher in the Greece Central School District. He teaches grades PreK-2 and has previously taught grades 3-5 general music and choir. He is also a board member for the Greater Rochester American Orff Schulwerk Association (GRAOSA) Chapter, serving as their Publicity and Newsletter board member. His love for the Schulwerk has pushed him to complete the Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education Course over several summers at Nazareth University. He completed Level I in 2021, Level II in 2023, and Level III in 2024. He had the privilege to work with BethAnn Hepburn, Karen Medley, Connie Van Engen, Chris Judah-Lauder and Ben Torres.
His future plans include continually working with GRAOSA and serving on the board, attending the AOSA national conferences as much as possible, and possibly
apprenticeship to be an instructor for the Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education Course.
Traveling to National Parks with his wife and daughter is a personal goal he wants to achieve alongside all these other goals.
