An accelerated experience for the high school and college orchestral string player

ORCHESTRAL CONDUCTING TRACK*
- High school and college students string students (age 15 – 22) interested in an introduction to orchestral conducting or a continuation of on-going orchestral conductor training
- Minimum string performance level: equivalent to a solid NYSSMA Level 5
- Students will work with conducting teachers in rehearsal techniques and performance preparation
- Students will also play in a string quartet or quintet as part of their musical development
*More challenging literature will be given to students with formal conducting training or experiences.
STRING PERFORMANCE TRACK
- High school and college students string students (age 15 – 22)
- Minimum performance level: equivalent to a solid NYSSMA Level 5
- Students will work both in a smaller chamber group (string quartet or quintet) as well as performing in a string orchestra led by conducting students
- Students will learn to work independently within a chamber music setting, as well as how to lead in an orchestral setting
- Solo performance opportunities in masterclasses
