Alternative Breaks

Service-based trips and experiences provide the opportunity to deepen your awareness and understanding of a variety of social justice issues, and to partner with local organizations that are addressing those needs. Learn and serve with communities, both domestically and abroad, building lifelong friendships.

2020-2021 Programs

COVID-19 has challenged not only the Nazareth community, but the Rochester community and the world at large. This year, we are adjusting our Alt Break experiences to assure the safety of our students and our community partners, while continuing to work as allies and advocates for our neighbors, both local and global.

Over January and March of 2021, we will be running two Alt Breaks in Rochester, as well as two virtual global experiences.

Focus Areas:

January

  • Rochester: Environmental Justice
  • Hybrid/Virtual: Youth Development (virtually partnering with organizations in Puerto Rico)

March

  • Rochester: Housing and Homelessness
  • Hybrid/Virtual: TBD (likely COVID-19 response/health-related)
