Jane Welch ’37, Bus. Econ, celebrated her 100th birthday on December 5, 2014.

Dr. Betsy Crane ’71, Soc., professor of human sexuality at Widener University in Chester, Penn., has been named by the university as an inaugural Distinguished University Professor. Crane is one of three Widener faculty members selected to hold this designation for a three-year period, identified by students and colleagues as an outstanding teacher and leader at the university.

Elaine Feehan Vileria ’73, ’84G, Art, M.S.Ed., and her artwork were featured in the October 2014, November 2014, and December 2014 issues of Visual Language Magazine. A gallery of her work can be found on her website, elainevileria.artspan.com.

Barbara Brooks Quinn ’74, ’79G, Fine Arts, M.S., is the coordinator of the Dayton’s Corners Schoolhouse/Museum in Penfield, N.Y. She is a retired teacher from the East Irondequoit CSD after 33 years and the NSDAR NY State chorus director. Barbara is also a 30-year member of the Beta Eta Chapter DKG Society. She has been married 22 years to Bob and has two grandchildren.

Maureen McPherson Swift ’77, Math, led a successful campaign to establish an independent library district for Jackson County, Oregon, and was elected to serve on the library’s new board of directors for a three-year term.

Steve LaSalle ’83, Mgmt. Sci., was recently promoted to the newly created position of chief operating officer for the Lifetime Health Medical Group. He has been with the company since 2005 and will continue participating in Medical Group Operations, Marketing and Communications, and Informational Technology teams.

Arthur Smith ’84, Bus. Admin., was recently promoted to the chief communication and marketing officer (CCMO) for the Americans at MUFG Union Bank. He has been with the bank since 2009. He also takes on the role of deputy general manager of the global MUFG Brand Development Office in Tokyo.

Gillian Conde ’85, Art, develops affordable, special needs housing for the Rochester-based non-profit organization DePaul. She is currently bringing to life the former Cunningham Carriage Factory in the Susan B. Anthony District as 71 loft apartments. In March 2014, she helped to renovate a 100-year-old former school building in Buffalo into 68 apartments.

Anthony D’Agostino ’87, Bus. Admin., was named a 2014 Business Person of the Year finalist by the Small Business Council of Rochester. D’Agostino is the owner of Inspire Crayon Campus, a childcare and learning center in Pittsford, N.Y.

Laurie Leo ’89, Bus. Act., has been named the chief financial officer of the college and seminary leadership team at Roberts Wesleyan College by Northeastern Seminary administrators.

Matt Orioli ’91, Bus. Admin, is now director of integrated services at Team Fishel, a utility construction and network installation company in Columbus, Ohio.

Luis Perez, ’94, Soc. Work, was the recipient of the Jessica Shackelton Maclay Distinguished Alumnus Award from the social work department for his exceptional professional qualities and a strong commitment to service in the field of social work. He is currently serving as the executive director of the Horizons Student Enrichment Program at The Harley School, where he has been instrumental in the expansion of high-quality summer enrichment programs through the Greater Rochester Summer Learning Association.

Matt Mooney ’98, Theatre Arts, recently opened the Buffalo Chrysalis Theater in Hamburg, N.Y. The company debuted its first show, Forbidden Broadway’s Greatest Hits, in October 2014. Mooney is the executive and creative director for the new company, as well as the operations manager and theatre teacher.

Tim Anne ’00, ’01G, Phys. Therapy, is the co-owner of North Greece Physical Therapy, which was awarded Microenterprise of the Year by the Greece Chamber of Commerce in November 2014.

Jeff McCormack ’00, Math, is currently the vice president for strategy and development at Manning and Napier. He recently spoke to Nazareth students at a student finance society meeting.

Laurie Catucci Tobin ’01, Psych., Incl. Ed., participated in Miami University’s Earth Expeditions global field course in Costa Rica in summer 2014, studying at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and La Selva Biological Station. A teacher at Webster Schroeder High School in Rochester, N.Y., Tobin took the graduate course in pursuit of her master’s degree from Miami University’s Global Field Program.

Lucas Hiley ’03, Eng., Edu., has been hired as the principal of Laurelton-Pardee Intermediate School in Irondequoit, N.Y.

Josh Pies ’03, Bus. Admin., Econ., co-owner of C47 Film Associates, was honored with the 2014 Film Office Achievement Award from the Rochester/Finger Lakes Film & Video Office for his promotion, participation, and investment in growing the film and video industry in western New York.

Anita Kurowski ’05, ’12G, Mus. Ed., Lib. Arts, made her final profession of vows to become a Sister of St. Joseph on August 30, 2014, at Our Lady of the Americas Church in Rochester, N.Y.

Alex Taillie ’05, Bus. Admin., has been teaching special education inclusion in Memphis, Tenn., for four years. He recently started an International Traveler’s Club at his school, has accompanied nine students to Spain, and will coordinate and lead trips to Costa Rica in 2015 and Europe in 2016.

Emily Gaines ’07, Mus. Ed., was hired as a general music teacher at Brockport High School in September 2014.

Korinne Smith ’10, Mus., Mus. Ed., has joined the faculty of Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina, as an adjunct professor of flute.

Kimberly Miller Best ’12, Mus. Therapy, is currently a contracted music therapist for Music Medicine, a company that works with people with developmental disabilities in schools, group homes, clients’ homes, and a day center. She was recently hired as the first music therapist at Mary T. Inc., an assisted living facility, to work with their hospice care program. Both positions are located in the Twin Cities, Minn.

Carly Maldonado ’12, CSD, is the recipient of a Minority Student Leadership Program Award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for her research on the early stages of age-related hearing loss in the Au.D./Ph.D. dual-degree program at Syracuse University.

Emily Wingenbach ’12, Music, Mus. Ed., has been hired as a sixth grade teaching assistant in Liverpool, N.Y., where she works with autistic and bipolar children, offering them a small group alternative for large general music classes. She also teaches private voice lessons outside of school.
