Ben Blasko ’17, forward on the Nazareth men’s hockey team, was named ECAC West Co-Rookie of the Year for the 2013-14 season. Blasko also represented Nazareth on the ECAC West All-Rookie team. In addition, defenseman Scott Dawson ’16 earned second-team all-conference honors.
The ECAC West all-conference teams and the major award winners were selected through voting by the league’s head coaches.
Blasko, of Kingston, Ontario, played in every game for Nazareth and led the Golden Flyers as well as all conference first-year players in scoring in 2013-14 with 26 points on 11 goals and 15 assists. He was named to the ECAC Honor Roll earlier in the season.
Dawson, of Ottawa, Ontario, was the Golden Flyers’ top scoring defenseman in 2013-14 with 15 points on two goals and 13 assists as he appeared in all 26 games. One of Dawson’s goals was a game-winner in overtime of a 2-1 win over front-running Utica Jan. 24.
The Golden Flyers, in their second season of intercollegiate play, displayed steady improvement in 2013-14 and finished with an overall record of 8-16-2.
