Taylor Pierson ’16 continued to excel for Nazareth as a long jumper as she placed fifth in that event at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Lincoln, Neb. last March.
Pierson jumped 5.55 meters (18 feet, 2 ½ inches) to finish in fifth place overall. Earlier in the winter, she broke her own school record with a jump of 5.73 meters (18 feet, 9 ¾ inches) at RIT’s Orange/Brown Invitational.
“She just continues to improve,” says Nazareth coach James Goss. “She’s focused and determined and wants to keep getting better. I think [jumping] 19 feet is a reasonable goal for her.”
This marks the second time Pierson has earned All-American honors. Pierson placed eighth in the same event at the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2013. The top eight finishers are recognized as All-Americans.
