Brad Ford, Jack Giles Earn All-Conference Honors

Brad Ford ’14 closed out a brilliant four-year basketball career in February and reaped the rewards with several post-season honors. Ford and fellow senior Jack Giles ’14 represented Nazareth as first-team selections on the Empire 8 Conference all-star teams. The teams were picked in February through voting by the league’s head coaches.

In addition to Ford and Giles on the first team, Scott Hayford ’14 was Nazareth’s representative as E8 Sportsman of the Year.

Ford, of Victor, N.Y. and a graduate of Victor High School, enjoyed a spectacular four-year career for the Golden Flyers as a 6-foot-4 forward, culminating in a senior season that has made him Nazareth’s leading scorer (18.8 ppg.) and rebounder (10.2 rpg.).

Ford finished his career with 1,519 points (sixth all-time) and 944 rebounds (second all-time). He was one of five players named to the d3hoops.com All-East Region first team and one of six named to the NABC’s East Region first team. He was also honored as a first-team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Giles, of Fayetteville, N.Y. and a graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School, is a 6-foot-2 guard who started all 27 games for the Golden Flyers in 2013-14. He ranked second on the team in scoring at 15.6 points per game and displayed accuracy from three-point range (41-for-106, .387) and from the free-throw line (81-for-102, .794). He set a school record in a game against St. John Fisher Jan. 28 by going 13-for-13 from the field and scoring a career-high 38 points in Nazareth’s 87-84 victory.

Hayford, of Wilmington, Vt. and a graduate of Twin Valley High School, also started all 27 games and contributed 9.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game as Nazareth finished 19-8 overall and reached the championship game of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament at Hartwick.
