Ben Blasko ’17, forward on the Nazareth men’s hockey team, was selected as a first-team all-star in the ECAC West Conference for the 2014-15 season. Goaltender Ed Zdolshek ’16 was a second-team selection; forward Dominik Gabaj ’17 made honorable mention; and forward Oliver Janzen ’18 was chosen as a forward on the conference’s all-rookie team.
Blasko, of Kingston, Ontario, played in all 27 games for the Golden Flyers this season and leads the team in overall scoring with 31 points on six goals and a league-high 25 assists. He was selected to the conference’s all-rookie team last season.
Zdolshek, of Parma, Ohio, played in 21 games for the Golden Flyers in 2014-15 and has a 2.92 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. He was named conference Goaltender of the Week three times this season and also was in goal for Nazareth’s first-ever shutout victory—a 5-0 home-ice win over Manhattanville in November.
Gabaj, of Bratislava, Slovakia, enjoyed a strong first season for the Golden Flyers after transferring from Monroe Community College. He played in 25 games and was second on the team in scoring with 24 points on 10 goals and 14 assists.
Janzen, of Denver, Colo., played in all 27 games and led the Golden Flyers with 12 goals and finished third in points with 23. He has twice been recognized this season as ECAC West Rookie of the Week.
Nazareth finished 12-10-5 overall in 2014-15 and 7-4-4 in ECAC West Conference play. The Golden Flyers won their first-ever playoff game as they defeated Manhattanville, 5-1, before falling to Neumann, 8-4, in the conference semifinals.
