Kelly Represents Nazareth on All-Region Team

Lindsey Kelly ’16, a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star, was named to the All-East Region team by D3hoops.com for women’s basketball. Kelly, a six-foot center, was a first-team selection.

Kelly, of Doylestown, Pa. and a graduate of Central Bucks East High School, enjoyed a strong 2014-15 season for the Golden Flyers, who finished 15-11 overall after reaching the Empire 8 Conference Tournament. She led the Golden Flyers and was among the conference leaders in both scoring (15.2 ppg.) and rebounding (10.2 rpg.).

She also set a school record for single-season field goal accuracy by hitting 60.1 percent of her shots (161-for-268) and was first in the Empire 8 in free throw percentage at 82 percent (73-for-89). She has been honored three times this season as E8 Player of the Week. On February 6 at Alfred, she became the 14th Nazareth player to surpass 1,000 points in career scoring. She currently ranks 10th all-time in scoring with 1,108 points.

In addition to Kelly as a first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star, guard Veronica Peck ’16 was an honorable mention selection. A native of Hauppauge, N.Y. and a graduate of St. John the Baptist High School, Peck started all 25 games at point guard for the Golden Flyers and contributed 9.4 points and a conference-best 3.5 assists per game. She also led the team with 50 three-point baskets and was among the conference leaders in three-point accuracy at 38.5 percent (50-for-130). She was tied for the Nazareth team lead with 20 steals.
