Nazareth College is a 2021-22 College of Distinction

Published June 08, 2021

Nazareth is among a select group of top colleges and universities across the country hand-picked to earn a 2021-2022 Best Colleges of Distinction designation for its commitment to engaged, experiential education.

Colleges of Distinction follows a unique approach, going beyond the traditional ranking models that assess colleges based on historic prestige, selectivity, athletic prowess, and size of endowment. Instead, they focus on colleges like Nazareth that deliver on four overarching distinctions — student engagement, teaching, community, and outcomes. The 2021-2022 Colleges of Distinction vary in size, cost, location, academic offerings, and more, but they are all distinguished by their commitment to the undergraduate experience.

"Our vision at Nazareth is to help our students become changemakers who are engaged with the community and work to make a difference. The mission defined by Colleges of Distinction, to learn, grow and succeed through different kinds of learning and collaboration with others, lines up perfectly with Nazareth's focus and values," said Provost Andrea Talentino. "Nazareth is committed to innovative models of teaching and learning that are infused with social and community impact."

Nazareth's commitment to transformative education has also earned the College a spot in each of these 2021-22 Colleges of Distinction areas:

Equity and Inclusion College of Distinction: provides noteworthy support to underserved students who might not otherwise study and thrive on a college campus. The mission of Nazareth's Community and Belonging initiatives is rooted in the College's founding values of solidarity and social justice.

Career Development College of Distinction: offers more than a career services office on campus; they integrate future careers into the present curriculum. The Center for Life's Work at Nazareth partners with students to create and start a path from college to careers and lives of meaning. Each student is assigned with a career coach from day one to plan and integrate academics, skills, and experiences with the student's passions.

Top Education College of Distinction: excels in their commitment to nurturing and supporting future educators and equip students with the necessary skills and experience. An education degree at Nazareth includes inspiring faculty, wide-ranging experiences on campus and in schools, multiple certifications, and help securing a job upon graduation.

Top Nursing Colleges of Distinction: programs that are well rounded, highly accredited, and focused on student success. The nursing program at Nazareth is ranked the best in the region — and #4 statewide — based on Nazareth nursing students' licensing success over the past three years and the strength of Nazareth's accredited program, reports RNCareers.org. Nazareth's NCLEX passing rates have been 97 to 100 percent for several years. Nazareth also has a popular public health program.

Top Business Colleges of Distinction: deliver business degrees that are multidisciplinary in nature with practical experiences for students to engage the wider world of business. Students can apply and join a multi-year cohort program to develop leadership skills and gain a competitive advantage when job seeking.
