Financial aid can provide funds to help cover the cost of education.

  • Federal grant options include: Pell Grant and the Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
  • New York state grant options include: NYS TAP (tuition assistance program)
  • Nazareth University need-based grants
  • Federal Work Study, Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, and PLUS Loans for Parents

Your First Step

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the only application required by Nazareth to determine your eligibility for federal and Nazareth need-based financial aid. If you are a New York state resident you will also complete a Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application to determine state aid.  

The FASFA application must be completed annually.

Need-Based Grants

Grants offered based on demonstrated need as determined by the FAFSA.

University Grants

Purple & Gold Grant 

Nazareth need-based grant(s) are offered to full-time undergraduate students with demonstrated need. 

Federal Grants

Federal Pell Grants

Pell grants are offered to undergraduate students with financial need as determined by the FASFA. 

FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant): Limited federal grants ranging from $100 - $1,000 may be offered to full-time students who receive maximum Pell Grant funding. 

New York State Aid for Part-Time Studies (APTS)

The Aid for Part-Time Study program is a grant program through New York State. The program provides up to $2,000 per year for qualified part-time (enrolled in 3 to 11 credits) undergraduate students. Contact Financial Aid for more information about eligibility, deadlines, and the APTS application. 

New York State TAP

Eligibility is determined by New York state. Students must be New York state residents for one year before beginning college and attend full-time. 

Federal TEACH Grant

The Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides up to $2,000 per semester to academically qualified students who intend to teach in a high-need field in an elementary school or secondary school or educational service agency that serves students from low-income families.

Please see the TEACH Grant information page and the Nazareth University TEACH Grant eligible programs list for more details. Please contact the Financial Aid office to request the TEACH Grant application,finaid@naz.edu. Failure to complete the service obligation will result in the grant being converted to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan with interest accrued and capitalized from the date of the original disbursement.

Loans

Your financial aid offer will include federal loan options based on your financial need as determined by the FAFSA. 

Nazareth assumes you will want to borrow the federal student loans offered to you. You may choose to decline or reduce the loans offered. If you are a first time borrower additional steps are required to secure your loans.
