Study Abroad Scholarship and Grant Opportunities

Nazareth University has various scholarship and grant opportunities available to provide assistance to current Naz students who study abroad in a Nazareth University program.

  • Ciccone Scholarship - for students studying in Italy. Requests for assistance should be submitted in writing to Joëlle Carota, Director of Frank DiMino Casa Italiana, or Nevan Fisher, Director of Center for International Education.
  • Zollo Scholarship - for students studying in Italy. Requests for assistance should be submitted in writing to Joëlle Carota, Director of Frank DiMino Casa Italiana, or Nevan Fisher, Director of Center for International Education.
  • Hoctor Scholarship – preference to students studying in the British Isles. Requests for assistance should be submitted in writing to Nevan Fisher, Director of Center for International Education.
  • Joanne-Hume Nigro and Ronald Nigro Scholarship - preference to students studying in Italy. Requests for assistance should be submitted in writing to Joëlle Carota, Director of Frank DiMino Casa Italiana, or Nevan Fisher, Director of the Center for International Education.
  • Virginia Otto Scholarship - awarded to foreign language major undertaking study abroad, with a preference to French majors studying in Rennes. Request for assistance should be submitted to Mireille Le Breton in the World Languages and Cultures department or Nevan Fisher, Director of the Center for International Education.
  • Quinn-Metz Scholarship – preference to students studying in Italy. Requests for assistance should be submitted in writing to Joëlle Carota, Director of Frank DiMino Casa Italiana, or Nevan Fisher, Director of the Center for International Education.
  • Summer Study Abroad Scholarship - available with a 2-credit tuition offset to upperclassmen participating in a Nazareth-approved study abroad program in a summer term and registered for at least three credit hours. Information available from the Center for International Education.
  • SPARK Grant- qualifying freshman, sophomore, and transfer students can use this time-sensitive grant for short- and long-term study abroad programs.

In addition to Nazareth University scholarships, the following private scholarships are available for students who study abroad in a Nazareth program or a non-Nazareth program:

  • Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program – offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.   • Nazareth University is a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. PKP provides a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for study abroad. For more information, contact the leader listed on the PKP site.
  • Boren Awards for International Study – For additional information, contact Mark Madigan, professor in the English and Communication Department.
  • SRISA Scholarship for Liberal Arts studies at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy. For additional information, contact Nazareth's Center for International Education or World Languages and Cultures department.
