Papercut: Print Management & Sustainability

What it is: Papercut is a new print management system designed to be an important component of the GREENprint@Naz sustainability initiative. We are embarking on a campus-wide effort to reduce unnecessary paper and toner consumption in support of Nazareth's sustainability goals. The deployment of Papercut in public computing areas is expected to significantly reduce wasted paper and conserve our natural resources.

What it does: Papercut gathers statistics on campus printing use. This information will be used to help formulate future campus-wide printing policies and to educate the campus about the environmental impacts of printing.

  • At this time, we have not instituted printing quotas or print charges. The Papercut system will, however, help everyone "think before they print" by requiring user confirmation when submitting large print jobs.
  • Print jobs of more than 20 pages require user confirmation.
  • There is also a limit on the number of "copies" one can print at a time. Currently, you may only print up to 10 copies of any one document at a time.

Web printing: Papercut allows you to submit print jobs from your personally owned computer if you are connected to the campus wireless network. To use Web Print, please go to the following site and and log in with your MyNaz username and password: http://NazPrint.naz.edu

Then, navigate to Web Print. You will see a list of printers that are accessible via Web Print. Not all printers are Web Print enabled. Please choose the printer that is closest to you.  Click here for instructions on how to use Web Print.

Environmental impact: On the NazPrint site, you can view the environmental impact of your printing in the Summary section. There you will find information on how many print jobs and pages you have printed. You will also see the environmental equivalents of your printing over time (Trees, Carbon, Energy).

See GreenPrint@Naz to learn more about sustainability initiatives on campus.

Webfiles: View and Send Large Files

This system makes sending large files via email or social media easy.

Here's how it works:

  • Add a webfile to the system. You'll be able to upload any file from your computer, and we'll store it for you on a Nazareth University server.
  • Copy and paste the link we give you. You can send this link in an email, on Facebook, Twitter, or simply read it over the phone to someone. No more bounced emails, clogged inboxes, CDs, or FTP accounts!
  • All files will be kept for at least 120 days, and are backed up on a regular schedule.

Visit https://webfiles.naz.edu to get started.
