Dawn Vogler-Elias and Shanna Jamanis: Sheltering at home with children on the autism spectrum

Dr. Dawn Vogler-Elias, professor of speech-language pathology, and Dr. Shanna Jamanis, professor in teacher education, are co-directors of the Interdisciplinary Specialty program in Autism (I-SPAN) at Nazareth College. They discuss ways families are coping during the major COVID-19 disruption that is happening in homes across the world as children aren't able to go to school. For children on the autism spectrum, this time can present unique challenges.

  • Discover how parents and teachers of children with special needs, including autism, are managing while schools are closed
  • Tips that parents can do to keep routine.
  • What professionals are doing to help their students

Special thanks to the Sperry-Mossa family for taking video as they learn and play at home during the pandemic.
