Nazareth named a 2022-23 College of Distinction

Published July 12, 2022

Nazareth College has been named a 2022-2023 College of Distinction — recognizing the College’s commitment to instilling the skills that allow students to become impactful changemakers who learn, grow, and succeed through Nazareth’s many opportunities for engaged and experiential learning.

The Colleges of Distinction selection process comprises a sequence of in-depth research and detailed interviews with the schools, accepting only those that adhere to four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community, and successful outcomes. These principles are all informed by high-impact practices to prioritize the ways that institutions enable students to have a fulfilling, individualized college experience both inside and outside of the classroom.

Impact experiences are at the heart of a Nazareth education,” said Nazareth Provost Maureen Forrester Finney. “Those experiences both inside and outside the classroom prepare each Nazareth student to discover their potential and advance their skills to cultivate positive change in their life’s work. Nazareth’s mission lines up so well with the Colleges of Distinction, and we are proud to be honored in so many areas once again this year.”

Nazareth’s commitment to transformative education also has earned the College recognition in each of these 2022-23 Colleges of Distinction areas:

Equity and Inclusion College of Distinction: Nazareth provides noteworthy support to underserved students who might not otherwise attend and thrive on a college campus. Nazareth’s focus on a campus culture of community and belonging includes proactively embracing and supporting each individual for the strengths and gifts they bring to our college and to our world.

Career Development College of Distinction: Nazareth offers more than a career services office on campus; instead, future careers are integrated into the present curriculum. A leader in innovative and effective career preparation, Nazareth’s Center for Life’s Work connects and supports students with an average of four impact experiences during their time in college. After students graduate, the Center is a life-long resource for alumni for continuing growth, adapting to workforce changes, and flourishing in their careers, their communities, and in life.

Top Education College of Distinction: Nazareth excels in its commitment to nurturing and supporting future educators and equipping students with the necessary skills and experience. An education degree at Nazareth includes inspiring faculty, wide-ranging experiences on campus and in schools, multiple certifications, and help securing a job upon graduation.

Top Nursing Colleges of Distinction: Nazareth’s nursing program is well rounded, highly accredited, and focused on student success. The nursing program at Nazareth is ranked #3 statewide — based on Nazareth nursing students' licensing success over the past three years and the strength of Nazareth's accredited program, reports RNCareers.org.

Top Business Colleges of Distinction: The School of Business & Leadership at Nazareth is among select schools across the country hand-picked to earn this recognition. In addition to traditional business fields of study, Nazareth leads the way in the dynamic field of sports and entertainment management, the ethics of artificial intelligence, and the always-changing field of digital marketing strategy. Nazareth delivers business degrees that focus on leadership and ethics along with multidisciplinary and practical experiences for students to engage the wider world of business.

Military Support College of Distinction: Nazareth is aware of the unique challenges military students face on college campuses and supports and cultivates the skills that military students bring to the classroom.
