Keyboard students in all degree programs receive:

Highlights

  • Students perform each semester in studio recitals and semester juries, and may audition annually to play a solo recital.
  • Through the department's faculty and guest concert series, students have exposure to a wide variety of music as well as the opportunity to perform in annual master classes.
  • Piano students perform collaboratively with fellow students in studio recitals each semester. 
  • A wealth of extra curricular performance experiences include community master class performances and recital performances and faculty/student outings to RPO and other community concerts
  • Nazareth piano graduates have been awarded scholarships and teaching assistantships for graduate piano study and are employed as teachers and performers in public school, collegiate, community, and church settings.

Student News

Jinnan Liu (BM '20) will pursue graduate studies at Baylor University in the Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance degree, with a full tuition scholarship and graduate teaching assistantship.

Xiaofan Liu (BM '20) will pursue graduate studies at the University of Central Missouri in the Master of Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy degree, with a teaching assistantship and merit scholarship.

Xiao Han (BM '22) will travel to Spain to participate at the Gijon International Piano Festival.

Xiaofan Liu (BM '20), Jinnan Liu (BM '20), Xiao Han (BM '22), and Dr. Bonnie Choi, advisor, have been selected to present a poster, "A Nation of Pianists, Piano Students, and Piano Lovers: Tracing The History of Piano Teaching in China" at the MTNA Conference in Chicago. 

Xiao Han (BM '22) won the 2019 Hobstetter Piano Scholarship. This award is given out every fall and selected by the piano faculty based on the Fall jury performances.

Tatiana Avangelista (BA '18) gave a senior lecture recital in the Fall, 2017 and will be moving on to finish her double major in Philosophy in the Fall. Also, she won the best paper award at CARS.

Katie Pukos (BM '18) will begin her Music Therapy internship in the Fall, and was accepted into her 1st choice internship program (Golisano Children's Hospital)

Qiwen Wan (BM '18) was accepted into the Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy (Recital Track) at the University of South Carolina School of Music, one of the top piano pedagogy programs in the country.

Aaron Siebert-Castineira (BM '18) was accepted into the Master of Music in Film Scoring at the Eastman School of Music, to pursue his passion for film scoring/composition.
