In recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month, The Hickok Center for Brain Injury, Inc., in Rochester, N.Y., presented Nazareth College’s Dean of the School of Health and Human Services Shirley Szekeres, Ph.D., with their Community Hero Award in March. The ceremony took place at the Hickok Center’s 6th annual Brain Waves Benefit event.
Szekeres is the founder of the Aphasia Clinic, now the Brain Injury Clinic at Nazareth. She has more than 25 years of clinical experience and has written more than 30 articles on cognitive and language disorders after stroke and traumatic brain injury.
