Nazareth Gets Four All-Americans in Men’s Lacrosse

Nazareth’s men’s lacrosse team, which captured the Empire 8 Conference title last spring, was rewarded with four All-American selections from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Attackman Luke Wooters ’16, face-off specialist Drew Simoneau ’15, midfielder Collin Clark ’14, and midfielder Chris Peterson ’13 represented the Golden Flyers as honorable mention recipients. The Golden Flyers finished 15-5 overall in 2013, including a perfect 7-0 in the Empire 8.

Wooters, of White Plains, N.Y. and a graduate of Iona Prep, enjoyed a record-breaking campaign in his first season with the Golden Flyers as he amassed a team-best 93 points, including a Nazareth single-season record 64 goals. Earlier this spring he was chosen as E8 Rookie of the Year.

Simoneau, of Manchester, N.H. and a graduate of Kimball Union, also broke a couple of school records as he totaled 240 ground balls and won 314 face-offs. He also was selected E8 Player of the Year and had nine goals and two assists.

Clark, of Austin, Texas and a graduate of Anderson High School, was the Golden Flyers’ top-scoring midfielder in 2013 with 53 points on 31 goals and 22 assists. He also was a first-team E8 Conference all-star.

Peterson, of LaFayette, N.Y. and a graduate of LaFayette High School, was one of only four seniors on the Golden Flyers’ roster in 2013. A short-stick defensive specialist, Peterson appeared in all 20 games and produced 10 goals and six assists with 37 ground balls. He also was a first-team E8 Conference all-star.

Nazareth also cleaned up the Empire 8 Conference awards with six first-team selections; in addition, Head Coach Rob Randall ’88 was chosen E8 Coach of the Year for the fifth time.
