Dygert, Lafaver Win Haskins Awards

Recent graduates Mallorie Dygert ’14 and Jake Lafaver ’14 were the 2014 recipients of the Emily Haskins Inspirational Athlete Award. The award recognizes students’ athletic achievements and their inspiration to others.

Dygert, a native of Auburn N.Y., was a three-year member of the Golden Flyers’ women’s swimming and diving team. She helped her team to a fifth-place overall finish at the UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Conference Championships in the 2013-14 season. She graduated with a degree in communication sciences and disorders.

Lafaver, a native of Syracuse, N.Y., was a four-year member of the track and field team. As a middle distance runner he was named Empire 8 Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for both the 2012-12 and 2013-14 seasons. He graduated with a degree in accounting.

The Inspirational Athlete Award was created in honor of Emily Haskins, a former Nazareth soccer player who died unexpectedly in 2000.
