One of the world's most popular destinations, France is a country with a long history of sophistication and elegance. Rennes is a city with more than 2,000 years of history and has earned an international reputation for the excellence of its academics, sports (including popular rugby and handball teams), and the arts. Nestled in the heart of Brittany, a region famous for food, wine, and hard cider, Rennes is also home to the Arthurian Legend. Together with neighboring Normandy, the two regions contain the highest concentration of Europe’s medieval architectural heritage. In the Twentieth Century, these two regions experienced some of the fiercest battles of both World Wars, and scars of battle remain on the landscape.
