Performing Arts Abroad

Nazareth partners with Performing Arts Abroad to offer experiences abroad in theatre, music, and dance, ranging from 1-12 weeks, mostly during the summer. Some have a language or audition requirement.

A Nazareth SPARK Grant can be used.

Types of experiences

  • Study abroad: Take courses at a partner university. You have the option to earn credit.
  • Arts for social change: civic engagement (not for credit)
  • Internships: All meet Naz internship guidelines, and you have the option to earn credit.
  • Training & intensives: Train in your discipline at a studios, academy, or theater for a short time period (not for credit).

Experiences that align well with specific Nazareth majors

  • Musical theatre and technical production: Train with professionals on London’s West End through short-term study abroad.
  • Acting: In the Acting Intensive at Shakespeare’s Globe, bring Shakespeare’s text to life with instructors in movement, voice/speech, stage combat, and text work. Go backstage at Shakespeare’s Globe and put on a final onstage performance. Visit Shakespeare’s birthplace and grave in Stratford-upon-Avon, tour backstage, and see a show at the Royal Shakespeare Company and Swan Theatre.
  • Music therapy: Work with people with special needs in Ecuador, do social outreach through music in South Africa, Uganda, and more.
  • Music performance: Train at a conservatory in Athens, enhance opera vocal techniques with a private instructor in Florence, learn West African percussion in Ghana, and more.
  • Dance: Intern at a studio in Barcelona, train with an intensive in Argentina or Ireland, learn West African dance in Ghana, teach dance in Costa Rica or the Philippines, and more.
  • Theatre: Intern at a theatre in Florence or Barcelona, connect with theatre education and development initiatives in Ecuador, and more.
  • Music education: Collaborate with music educators, give lessons, and teach music in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana, South Africa, the Philippines, Spain, and more.
