Latinx Heritage Month 2018

Nazareth College takes great pride in creating a supportive and inclusive campus. The College is celebrating National Latinx Heritage Month (observed annually September 15 to October 15) honoring the histories, cultures, and contributions of people of Latin American and Spanish descent. During this time, we also commemorate Latin American countries who received their independence. Latinx is gender neutral, which means it's an identifier that moves beyond gender binaries.

Clarisse Coggins, Class of ’43, one of Nazareth’s oldest and most dedicated alumna, attends Homecoming & Reunion weekend each year. This year, Coggins will be attending her 75th reunion at age 96, where she will receive an Outstanding Alumni Award, and she’ll have her life-long friend and fellow Nazareth alumna celebrating with her.

Nazareth College Arts Center Awarded HECap Grant for New Roof

Nazareth College Arts Center is getting a brand new roof thanks to a state grant of $450,487. The grant came from the state’s Higher Education Capital (known as HECap) Matching Grant program and must be matched by three times the amount in the recipient’s spending. The total project cost is more than $1.8M and is expected to start in May 2019 with an expected completion of August 2019.

Trike-A-Thon Success for Nazareth Clinic Helping Stroke Survivors

He rode his trike for three days, July 6-8, from Buffalo to Rochester along the Erie Canal to raise more than $1500 for the Neurogenic Communication and Cognition Clinic or “NC3” at Nazareth College’s York Wellness and Rehabilitation Center (YWRI). He was joined by a group of Health and Human Services students and professors riding for a day with him in the Trike-a-Thon on July 7.

Triking the Erie Canal to Support Nazareth Clinic

After a stroke and hard work in rehab, Doug Volland is thriving in his new normal. The former mechanical engineer who once ran marathons, participated in high-intensity boot camps, and rode 100 mile “centuries” on his bicycle, is now taking on the challenge of a three-day, 100-mile Trike-a-Thon from Buffalo to Rochester along the Erie Canal.

The 125,000-square-foot center will bring together the strengths of Nazareth College, Special Olympics, and the Golisano Foundation to create a new model of inclusion, fitness, and wellness for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
