Sarah Cipperly ’14 and Olivia Derleth ’14 each were honored on NCAA Division III Women’s All-East Region team that was chosen in December by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Cipperly, a defender, and Derleth, a midfielder, each were named to the second team after completing their careers with a second-place finish in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament in November. Nazareth finished with an overall record of 11-7-2.
Cipperly, of Troy, N.Y. and a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, has started regularly as a defender for the Golden Flyers for four seasons. She started 18 games in 2013 and helped anchor a defensive unit that limited opponents to a 0.97 goals-against average while recording seven shutouts.
Derleth, of Webster, N.Y. and a graduate of Webster Thomas, started all 20 games for the Golden Flyers in 2013 and was the team’s top scorer for the second year in a row with 21 points on 10 goals and one assist. She had 21 goals and 45 points over four seasons.
Both Cipperly and Derleth were first-team Empire 8 Conference all-stars in 2013. Michaela Soules ’17 and Elisa Marchione ’17 also were honored as second-team and honorable mention selections respectively.
