Academic Advisement

Freshman Course Selection

It’s almost your first semester of college. Welcome to the journey! We’re glad you’re getting ready to join us at Nazareth College. We’re here to support you along the way.

The Freshman Course Selection Survey will be posted here in May. Expect a postcard then directing you to it. Set aside about 45 minutes to carefully complete the survey in one sitting. Your answers will determine your Fall schedule.

How does it work?

Counselors in the Academic Advisement Center work closely with academic department chairs from every major to be sure you are registered for the fall courses you need for your major.

Depending on the major you choose, you have either many options for fall courses, or few. Some majors require certain courses in the fall semester, and you can be sure that your department chair has let us know what you need to take. We’ll register you for the correct courses, but we still need input from you on the survey.

If you don’t know yet what your major will be, that’s fine. With the information we get from your completed survey, we can register you for courses needed for your Core requirements while you explore your options.

Looking to transfer some college-level credit? We need to know that so we don’t register you for a course you’ve taken already.

After you review the details on the survey and answer the questions throughout, you click a button and your responses come to us automatically. We’ll compare your responses to the information we already have about you. If we have questions, it’s important that we have a reliable way of contacting you. Activate your Naz email (using the username and password sent in your acceptance letter) as soon as possible: that’s the email we’ll use to get in touch with you. (If you have problems, call Nazareth's Technology and Media Services Desk, 585-389-2111.) If you get a message from Nazareth on your cell or home phone, please call us back as soon as possible. We don’t want to delay processing your course selection.
