Why I teach

In line with my research focusing on the economics of education, teaching is what I am genuinely enthusiastic about. I enjoy the moment when I help someone discover the field of economics, because learning economics introduces a new way of looking at the world and benefits people in making life decisions.

Advice for Students

Follow your heart and try everything. Maybe that means stepping out of your comfort zone, taking classes you may have never thought of, trying new foods you did not dare to try, going on trips without thorough planning, or meeting people from different cultural backgrounds. When you look back at what you have done, you will realize all your experiences are marvelous.

My Passions

Economics fascinates me. My research delves into various topics within Applied Microeconomics, with a specific focus on Labor Economics and the Economics of Education. I seek to address important questions about how policies impact individuals' lives by employing real-world data and empirical methods.

Teaching Style

I am mindful of the need to ensure that my teaching is presented to my students in a meaningful and relatable context. Promoting student engagement with the material to cultivate critical reasoning is the ultimate goal of my teaching. Economic thinking facilitates this goal, and my role as a teacher is to achieve it effectively.

My goal: I want to contribute to students' education in a way that helps them become more independent learners.

My Favorite Course

A drawing course I took in my undergrad. It was an 8 a.m. three-hour class in a studio twice a week; I cherished every minute of it.

Fun Facts

I'm a Bayern München fan. I wrote them a letter after they lost to Chelsea at the 2012 UEFA Champions League final, and they mailed me the whole team's photos with autographs from the 2012-13 season.

In my leisure time, I enjoy watching talk shows, attending musicals and concerts, visiting museums and art galleries, exploring historical sites, trying out new restaurants and coffee shops, and spending time with my two feline companions, Hula and Pebo.
