Global Case Competition
Spring 2022
*** FINALISTS ANNOUNCED. See below. ***
Welcome to the second year of the Global Case Competition. Based on what we learned from last year, we are slightly changing the format of the competition to provide more opportunities for additional universities to participate and also to streamline the registration and submission processes.
We will be opening the competition this year to our international partners as well as to any global universities.
There will be two phases to the competition: preliminary and final Rounds.
- The preliminary round will be conducted during March 25-April 1.
- The final round will be conducted during May 20-May 27.
Each university will only be allowed to enter one student team (we recommend 2 to 4 students) in the competition. Both undergraduate and graduate students may participate.
- For the preliminary round, the participating groups will be asked to submit a one-page memo of their case analysis and a 10-minute video of their presentation. Each team is encouraged to be as creative as possible in communicating their main points in the presentation.
- Six finalist teams will be chosen from the preliminary entries, and those finalists will participate in the final round, where they will be expected to submit a 3-page memo of their analysis and a 30- minute presentation video on a new case.
Due to the generosity of our sponsors this year, we will be more than doubling the prize money for the competition:
- First Place -- $2500
- Second Place -- $1500
- Third Place -- $1000
- Honorable Mention -- $500
- The two finalist teams not receiving monetary gifts will receive alternative gifts from the School of Business and Leadership.
- All case competition participants, in both the preliminary and final rounds, will receive an electronic certificate of participation or of their placement from the School of Business and Leadership and Nazareth College.
We hope your university and students will find this case competition an exciting opportunity and participate this year.

Guidelines for the Global Case Competition - Spring 2022
Competition guidelines and rules
The case study will be released approximately one week prior to the deadline for both the preliminary and final rounds. Once the case is released, no coaching by any faculty or staff members will be allowed. Student teams will conduct their own research or utilize any publicly available resources. Student teams may receive any technical assistance related to their presentations or the technology to prepare their presentations, but no support related to the case analysis, report, or presentation itself. Student teams may have a practice run of their presentations and receive feedback on the presentation itself, such as clarity, organization, format, style. No advance feedback on content (what is to be presented) or strategy (what ideas should be focused on) will be allowed.
Any team that does not abide by such guidelines or violates any rules will be disqualified from the competition.
The details regarding the submission process will be released when the case is distributed, and the results of the competition will be announced via email and on our website.
General information about case competitions
The case used in the case competition focuses on issues faced by an organization, and the objective is for each student team to analyze the case and make recommendations for resolving the issues identified in the case. This competition will provide an excellent opportunity for students to hone their analytical and problem-solving abilities and practice collaboration and teamwork as well as communication skills. The prize money associated with the case competition is merely the icing on the cake.
The case competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students at any global university. Each student team can consist of two to four students and can be all undergraduate, all graduate, or a mixed grouping of students (both undergraduate and graduate).
Student teams will receive the case study roughly one week before the date of the competition. The teams will have one week to prepare a short report and a presentation.
The judges will be international business leaders from various countries and will have many years of combined business experience.
The case competition for 2022 will be virtual and will take place in March 2022 (Preliminary Round) and May 2022 (Final Round).
Registration for the competition will open on February 15, 2022, and continue until March 15, 2022.
